Wake Up Call!

6 AM in the morning, Dad will enter the room spraying water over me, in an attempt to wake me up, the moment I will open my eyes , I “see” my dad, but “hear” my mom screaming, “you will reach School late, wake up”!! Dragging myself out of bed, under the shower and into my uniform, I take my seat on the dining table, cribbing about the breakfast served and complaining of the one in the Tiffin. My mom goes on and on about the boring “Life lectures” while Dad continues reading news paper across the table, and occasionally throwing deadly stares at my side, he speaks very less, but when he does there is so much Wisdom there, I love it when she lectures and he speaks, I Know he cares and she loves .This was my daily routine for years! My wakeup Call!

6 AM in the morning, My cell goes on Vibration mode and I wake up to “see” my cell, “Hear” the Alarm make funny noise, and Myself scream, I will be late to work ,Wake up!! Under the shower, into my formals, I take my seat in the car, on the road to join the mad crowd! No cribbing over breakfast, no complaining about food, no lectures from mom, no stares from dad, just honks and stares from the angry drivers on the road! Years later this is my wake up Call.

As I drive to work, I wonder, Will Dad take Mom for dinner today, Will Mom Buy something for herself, now that we all are grown up and they need not save for the “Ifs” and “just in cases” of life. How they simply existed so that we may live. The only thing Common between our Parents and Us is that, they lived for “Us” and we are also living only for “ourselves”! When did we grow up so much, and when did they grow so old for us? How is it that, they could understand the noises that we made as kids, and we fail to understand their words spoken with so much clarity?

When I look at them today, I notice her wrinkles and his balding head and wonder, How pretty she is, but I never saw those wrinkles before, how occupied was I to over look these traits, I didn’t realize they are happily growing old, that they are tired of running around, but still trying to catch up with us even today. Come to think of it, how can they? We are all on the fast track of life, we are moving with such urgency and speed that, they cannot reach up to us, and this has developed the so called “gap”, obviously it will! Though we are in a hurry to reach to the top, the pinnacle of life, we will have to slow down, so that the “happy old couple” at home may join us too, Remember, “on the top” it’s going to be Cold and Lonely, and having them there, will make it a lot brighter and a happier place to be! You will have people to celebrate your victory too, who can be better than the ones who gave you- your first “Wake up Call”! So, Wake up, to “Call” the “Happy old Couple” today! Simply Re-Connect!

My Baby!

On a lonely day as this,
i entered the gate i couldn't miss,
with a beautiful vision of a new world,
only to find one familiar face
among 100's of strangers

For me from the very first glance of yours,
the girl wearing the pink dupatta
grabbed all my attention forever.

Ever since then, we have been there,
as if glued by an unknown force,
glued to share that special relationship
which God knew i couldn't share with anyone else.

Though you are taller than me,
and i have to "Look up" to speak to you,
in those beady eyes of yours,
i found a little kid staring back at me.

That instant i knew you wish to be cuddled,
you wish to be protected
and you wished to be "Loved"
That day, I Promised myself,
will give you all that you wished for.

From then on journey was simple,
We had each other, for all that we knew.
One fine day, you called me "Mama"
and you became my "baby"

A mother finds a "friend" in her Daughter,
and a Daughter finds a "Friend" in her Mother,
But WE found a "mama" and "baby" in our Friendship!

You are my friend, trusted and true;
And this is for everything
and all that you do.

When the light seems so far and times are so low,
You reach out your hand to give me a place to go.

When I find I can't make it and the mountain's too high,
You give me your wisdom and help me to try.

You've given me hope in times of despair.
You do this for me, because I know you care.

You make me laugh when there are no smiles,
Even though we're separated by the miles.

So let me tell you this, My Friend, My Baby
If you ever need me, I'm here 'til the end.

I give you my love and my heart,
And from your friendship I'll never part.

For everything and all that you do,
I want you to know I'll do the same for you.

So, when your days are black and your nights are long,
And it seems like everything will go wrong -

I'm there by your side you're never alone.
I'll be there for you to help lead you home.

So, My Friend, as you can see; You're very special,
especially to ME! ! !

Love you until the end of time! :)

My Shining star!

You entered my life like a gentle sigh,
like a quiet breeze blowing softly through the leaves.
You were a stranger first, one who laughed freely and easily,
who made me feel strangely liked and valued.
You became my friend, no longer a stranger,
trusting me with secrets hidden,
confiding what you liked and hated.
From strangers to friends was just a baby step,
a step a thousand others take every day.
Without your trust and trusting ways,
without your smiles and encouraging gaze,
I would never have taken the step beyond.
But the gentle breeze blowing through the leaves
is relentless and never ending.
We became closer friends, and closer still,
until much of my life was centered around the times
we spent together.

We traveled far along the path of friendship,
avoiding the bumps somehow, never stumbling,
always in step with one another.
Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder,
you brought me along our course,
to a destination I had never seen before.
You became my best friend along that journey,
the anchor in my life where none had ever been.
You did a good job of guiding our steps,
a job no other could ever do,
and it wasn't your fault, really, when I stumbled.
Somewhere along our path,
perhaps where the heights were making me dizzy with joy,
I simply lost my balance and fell.
By the grace of God, I fell not to either side, nor to the rear,
but fell instead forward, along the path we'd tread.

I love the vitality and zest that is so much a part of you.
I never would have believed the breeze, blowing softly through the leaves,
could be so filled with life.
I treasure that spark of spirit in you,
that flashing flare of fire that animates all that you do.
It's easy to see how much you love life,
even when life is sometimes less than lovable,
and that love is always mirrored in your eyes and smile.
You are never more beautiful than when that spark ignites
and your vitality blazes in your happy face.

I love the way we have fun doing the strangest things,
or the way we can enjoy each other doing nothing at all.
We shop and walk, eat and talk,
playing games apart and united.
We study and drill, work and play,
listening to music and singing the words together.
We have fun with each other,
frolicking in our shared pleasures,
enjoying the thrill of life.

You are patient and sometimes easy to anger,
too forgiving when you shouldn't forgive.
You allow the stresses of life to mould your day,
allow the commitments of life to shape your way.
I know your imperfections as well as your perfections,
know your faults as well as your assets.
And I find I love you not in spite of those,
but as much because of them as anything else.

Like the quite breeze blowing through the leaves,
I know you are here to stay...

My Chotu!

“Soul” is the meaning of her name,
Within her, I’ve found the perfect friend
Someone who I know will be there till the end
And they’re not just thoughts I hope will fulfil
But thoughts that will stand forever still

Still as the wind on a hot summer’s day
Still as her friendship I’ll never betray
Still as the characters in a photograph
Still as her breathless, loud laugh

Within her, I’ve found the perfect friend
A mind that I can comprehend
A person I see is so much in love
A mutual relationship so carefree

Carefree as a child who questions the world
Carefree as a scream that goes unheard
Carefree as an adult blessed with a dream
Carefree as water flowing downstream

Within her, I’ve found the perfect friend
With whom I can be real, and never pretend
who has always been someone unique from the rest
who hold a special place in my heart

Within her is reason to live every moment in time
Within her the life I want is always mine
Within her, I have the perfect friend
With her, I see myself till the very end
Within her I’ve found a perfect friend,
A friend, who lives to eat,
And who eats only to love!
Her loud screeching voice is,
My wake up call in life,
That makes me come alive!
She is none other than,
My Friend ... RUHI...!

Technology and You.

Through the years, we've watched it grow like a child budding into adulthood: It starts out mostly crying and pooping, then crawling, gradually learning to walk, and finally able to run at a speed we all wish we could keep up with. We've seen it fail, and we've seen it succeed. We've poked fun at it when it doesn't make sense, and we've praised it when it's absolutely brilliant. We've yelled at it when it runs out of power, and we've fixed or replaced it when it gets run down. And most importantly we started to treat it as a family member— what is it? Yes!! TECHNOLOGY!

With all love, respect and honour... Lets welcome “technology” into our lives!

Aeroplanes, satellites, rockets, cars, computers, microwaves, refrigerators’, washing machine, toilet flush!! Everything has improved wonderfully due to technology and I would love to see what it will be like in the next hundred year’s time.

Over the last one hundred years we have seen extraordinary changes in technology. We have gone from foul smelling gas producing transportation on four legs to foul smelling gas consuming transportation on four wheels. We used to watch the birds and wish we were them and now we are visiting planets that have never seen a terrestrial animal. We used to dream of going around the world in eighty days and now we communicate across the globe in milliseconds and it’s all because of our dear friend... Technology!

This dear friend has changed our lives in ways that are too numerous to count. Our work is easier and we are lazier. We have more leisure time than ever before but we are too busy for to even read a book. We enjoy food and drink that our ancestors could never conceive and we have adopted ideas and values that our ancestors would have never dreamt off. Before we used to mourn over people dying due to sickness but now we “sick” people are plotting plans to kill each other. Before we used to think too much and now we feel too little!

Do you have any idea, what might have gone wrong? Well... never mind! Who has the time to think about it anyway! We have this little guest at home to serve!

Here I remember, what Karl Marx quoted, Production of too many useful things will result in too many useless people!

We invited technology to our world, so that at the press of a button we can get anything that we want. And Bingo! We got it... on pressing a button... we have our house lit with light, we get our clothes washed, we have our food cooked and we get a nation bombed! All thanks to our guest the technology!

There used to be a time when no one knew anything about technology, now there is a time where everyone is after technology and there will be a time in future where... there will be nothing but technology!!

Friends look at it... its smiling now! You know why is it smiling? Because we welcomed it to our house as a guest, and now it has become the host and we have become the guest! We no more control the machine, the machine controls us now.

If the alarm doesn’t ring we do not wake up on time, if the car stops working we can travel nowhere, if there is no network on your cell, you can communicate with no one, if there is no electricity supply the whole world becomes a dark place... it’s funny.. Men have become the tools of their tools!

Technology helps to control everything, except technology! So, you choose, you want to control or you want to be controlled!

"Non-Mysterious Answers"

We live in this world where everything is very “HI-FI”, where Science is the answer for every question. So why do we need religion? I mean really why? Science is giving the answers to all the doubtful areas of life, that once where the domain of religion and belief. Does this not prove that religion is merely an empire of ignorance and fools who wish to believe in stories purely based on what they refer to as "Faith"? However their bewilderment towards why educated people still believe in religion has rather non-mysterious answers.

One of the main answers being, what essentially is called as the sense of security, and a sense of certainty in this uncertain world. No matter how intelligent, how intellectual or how developed our thinking is, our mind is still rooted to the very essence of religion. When we have an absolute faith in something, no matter for what practical reason, we always believe its, True. And it is this faith that keeps the light of religion alive within us.

The difficulty in dislodging a person's "faith" has to do with how often a person's religion is tied deeply into their culture, family, and place. Religion is an important means through which many people form an identity within their society. Your faith in, you and your religion give you this inner peace and satisfaction, which you will get from nowhere.

What we call the ‘religious attitude’ is the natural outcome of human’s intellectual and biological constitution. Humans are unable to explain to themselves the mystery of life, the mystery of birth and death, the mystery of infinity and eternity. Their reasoning stops before impregnable walls. When we come to the end of all our doubts and we are still left with no answer that’s when our belief in religion becomes deeper.
The human being, with all the intricate mechanism of his soul, with all his desires and fears, his feelings and his speculative uncertainties, sees himself faced by a nature in which bounty and cruelty, danger and security are mixed in a wondrous, inexplicable way and apparently work on lines entirely different from the methods and the structure of the human mind.
Never has purely intellectual philosophy or experimental science been able to solve this conflict. This exactly is the point where religion steps in. Finally there is the simple fact that none of us knows with 100% certainty what will happen to our consciousness after we die. Religion offers hope that this life is but one stage of existence.

If all these sounds like a bunch of romantic nonsense and self-delusion, then indeed perhaps it is. But for those of us who believe in a religion like me, they provide us with a feeling of contentment and hope that nothing else in this world provides. For that reason, I don't see religion disappearing anytime soon.

Express Mode!

The sun pops above the horizon spreads its rays far and wide, licks off the shadow from every street every home, breathing a new freshness to the day. And then it happens. An emotion inside me dances out in the open, inspiring me to write and voice out my thoughts.

Joy, freedom, contentment, exploration, openness, self-expression, excitement, completion, thankfulness, and giving are a few of the words that describe my feelings and purpose of writing. Writing goes beyond a blank piece of paper and pen. Happiness starts when the idea and desire to write something new becomes an urge that pushes the creativity. Then the pen dances on the paper

There are millions of things inside us waiting to be expressed, to be given a shape of an art, a painting, a poem or a dance form. But there is always something in or around us that stops the flow. And this flow has to be regulated...

It can be an inspiration from things around you or a motivation from a friend that would push you to “express”! So often we hold back our emotions and feelings that we kill it within ourselves even before it could breathe a new life.

Every one of us has in him/her a continent of undiscovered character. Blessed is he who acts the Columbus to his own soul. Most of the time we over look our own feelings and desires and end up saying or doing things that we did not intend to. Life has reduced to things like unspoken words, unexpressed feelings and unheard thoughts, and this is kind of frustrating to all of us. Because I believe we all want to be heard.

“They say people in your life are seasons and everything that happens is for a reason”, so if there are so many seasons and reasons in life, it would be nothing but unfair from our part to not let our thoughts and feelings to be heard.

If it wasn’t for my friends who expressed their feelings to see me put up my blog today, I would not have had the courage to do it myself. So, expressing you views to others will actually open up doors of opportunity to people around you and create wonders in their life. Like, it did for me.

So, let go of all your feelings and thoughts and allow them to paint on the canvas of your life. Go out there and brighten somebody’s day, extend a helping hand or give a strong shoulder to cry on or just a simple smile would do... but make sure you express! Because what was given to you was not given to you alone... it was given to share... to pass it on...
